Does a marine-approved Hochiki call point have a higher IP rating?
Marine approval to MED does not raise a product's IP rating; the HCP-EM(SCI) marine call point is IP24, the same as the HCP-E(SCI).

Marine approval means a product has been assessed against the Marine Equipment Directive (MED, 2014/90/EU) by a notified body. Hochiki marine products such as the HCP-EM(SCI) marine addressable call point are approved to MED by DNV. Marine approval does not raise a product's ingress protection (IP) rating: the HCP-EM(SCI) is rated IP24, the same as the standard indoor HCP-E(SCI). Where an installation location needs a higher rating, such as IP65, choose a product with that rating, in the same way as for a land-based installation.
